WHO WE ARE

We are a Myanmar civil society organization founded by defected soldiers who choose to stand with the people and joined the resistance movement following 2021 military coup. Initially known as “People’s Soldiers”, we changed our name to “People’s Goal” in 2022 to reflect a broader strategic goal and inclusive leadership. Current leadership also includes individuals with civilian backgrounds, and we have expended our operations beyond defection movement to include promotion of democracy, human rights, minority rights, and federalism.

We are an organization that values collective leadership, accountability, collaboration, solidarity and volunteerism.

Our vision:

Our vision is to achieve a free, peaceful, and safe society through a new federal democratic state founded on justice and equality. To realize this, we are driving a defection and non-violent political resistance movement with the objective of dismantling the military junta, military regime, and its bureaucratic machineries (the three pillars of the military) while supporting and participating in transitional justice and security sector reform processes.
