Who we are

People’s Goal is a civil society organization based in Myanmar that is an active participant in the Spring Revolution. We advocate for ideological change inside and outside security institutions and facilitate dialogues among diverse Myanmar stakeholders’ issues including federalism, transitional justice, etc.

People’s Goal was founded as People’s Soldiers in mid-2021 by the defected military officers. Defectors, who are former soldiers, constitute an important political group, one that must be

integrated within the civic space if Myanmar is to have reconciliation amongst its different actors.

In 2022, it changed its name to People’s Goal to reflect its larger mission and more inclusive leadership. Civilians were inducted into its leadership team, and the mission expanded to not only focus on advocating defections, but also on democracy, civic rights, minority inclusivity, and federalism.

Our mission is to promote reconciliation and transitional justice amongst all political actors thereby ensuring that peace and harmony exist in Myanmar.
